Hello all!

Hope you are doing well!

We do have FREL function which is running on some old version of RHEL. Our customer would like to have this media agent OS updated. Unfortunately, there are some problems with FREL function after update.

This FREL support is so confusing and hard to find most recent support list.

Does anyone of you know which Linux system are supported on Media Agent to have full FREL suport (and off course all others) ? Maybe there is some clear list for that? We are running 11.36 CV

For now we were using Oracle Linux to avoid licensing, so the best idea would be to stay on some free distro, but we will consider any solution.

Hi @Grzegorz ,

The same as VSA Proxy:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/deploying_rhel_machine_as_vsa_proxy.html

Or in to convert Linux Media Agent to FREL:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/converting_linux_mediaagent_to_file_recovery_enabler_frel.html

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

Sebastien

Many, many thanks for your response!

But now I do have even more questions… So as we can see here:

And also here:

Seems that Oracle Linux 8.X should do the job.

We do have those systems as Media Agents (in media agent group!):

But when i go to the Media Agents trough the “Storage Resources” i cannot se the ones with 8.10 even if they do have same packages installed.

Same when i do try to start restore and i am not even able to see the ones with Oracle Linux 8.10 from dropdown list for proxy agents.

I have also tried to stat single file restore using  FREL and i have this output no matter which MA i will use. FW rules are in place...
