Hello,

I would like to know how exactly backups work for compressed Oracle DBs on a Exadata platform.

Does it need to rehydrate the data before sending it to a mediaagent?

If so, is there any specific requirement for that to happen? like extra RAM or extra disk?

Is it the same for non Exadata environments?

Thanks!

Sergio.

Hi @Sergio V

Use RMAN compression to Basic  and enable commvault level compression

https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/db-backup-cloud/csdbb/configuring-compression-backups.html#:~:text=Recovery%20Manager%20(RMAN)%20supports%20binary,for%20cloud%20backups%20is%20MEDIUM.

For additional information please review the Best practices section https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/20811_best_practices_for_oracle.html

Regards,
