How does MPA decide when to send email to approvers?

I seem to be missing some logic in the workflow for approvers. If the default approver group is master, but I have an external DL / group of users who I want to approve changes, how can I get it to trigger the email to that DL?

Meaning - I don’t just want the master group to be notified of something needing approval, but both master and the external group’s notified at the same time (so either another master OR one of the external DL members can)?

I initially tried setting the default approver to the DL but no email comes out (yes the DL has a working email for it). The approvers in that DL don’t do anything in Commvault, they are simply authorized to approve.

I’m not sure a DL is going to work - I think they have to be active users of the CommCell tied up in a CommCell group. The workflow is not going to be able to resolve the users part of an external distribution list. Each member is emailed separately based on their email address in their user profile.
