Hello,

Customer have a 6 drive tape library.

I would like to run aux copies for a specific plan using 2 drives in parallel.

Is this sufficient?

What else is needed?

Regards,

Pedro

Hello @PedroRocha

Yes, if the Storage Policy is set to use 2 streams and you run the Aux copy with Maximum streams - then the job should run to 2 Tape Drives

when the SP uses a tape storage pool, that device streams setting is done at the storage pool level, right?

cause I did it but still 1 tape drive gets used by the aux copy. Is there another place to check?

Have you checked if you have a setting on the secondary copy / tape storage pool for combine to streams / multiplexing?

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/10989_combining_source_data_streams.html

https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/10992_combining_streams_using_data_multiplexing.html

If you have combine to streams / multiplexing enabled (which it is on tape pools by default from memory) it will then combine data streams to device streams resulting in less tape usage (but longer restore times)

Hi, thank for the answer.

Unfortunately I do not find  "combine to streams" under tape storage pools. There's only the multiplexing option. It seems to be different when using storage pools...
