Hi Commvault Community,

I'm working with Commvault Threat Scan and need help verifying if the daily Avira signature updates are occurring successfully. According to the documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/commvault_threat_scan_requirements.html), updates should happen automatically every 24 hours via an outbound connection to https://oem.avira-update.com/update on port 443.

However, I reviewed updateinfo.log and found nothing related to Avira (no success messages, errors, or timestamps).

Is there a specific log file, command, or Command Center view to reliably check the last successful Avira update and current signature version? Or a way to force a manual update and log it verbosely?

Best regards,
Nikos

@Nikos.Kyrm which version are you running. We filled a CMR for it a while back and it should have been addressed in FR40.

Hello @Onno van den Berg

We are currently on version 11.36. So, in version 11.40, is there a way to check the daily Avira signature updates? If so, from where?

Best regards,
Nikos

Honest answer I don't know. This is also the annoying portion of the CMR methodology that in most cases you will never hear back from them and how they requests are implemented in case they are approved. I've reached out to some contacts within engineering with the request to respond to this thread.

So, received an answer. It generates an entry in the event viewer and you can create an alert to report on update failures.

Thanks both @Onno van den Berg  and @Scott Moseman  for your reply!

I will check it right after I upgrade to 11.40+

Best regards,
Nikos
