Hello,

I have Windows 2012 R2 Standard, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, and CommServe simpana 11.2.85.

I forgot  'sa' user password for SQL , how can I connect to mysql?

How to reset that password?

Best regards,
Elizabeta

You can find instructions online for resetting the “sa” password.  It’s a SQL Server process which you can perform outside the scope of Commvault.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/configure-windows/connect-to-sql-server-when-system-administrators-are-locked-out?view=sql-server-ver16

Thanks,
Scott

Hello,

Thank you @Sebastien Merluzzi for your response.

I read the documentation from the link you sent, my problem is the wrong password during CommServe upgrade, I can not reset this password, because can not open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio … When I try open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio there is an error
Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the aplications.

BR,
Elizabeta

@elizabeta Sounds like MSSQL install never completed or something removed Management Studio.

Might be best to open a case and allow support to assist. They should also be able to help with access to the instance.

@elizabeta ,

You can also download the new installer for SSMS 2018 and install it.

Otherwise, log a case with Support and we will check for you.

Best Regards,

Sebastien

Hello,

Password for “sa” user is needed for upgrade commvault (database migreation) on new hardware.
Shoud I need to open incident with commvault to assist us to change this password in the installation process? I have read that using sqladmin_cv account we can reset password for sa user.

BR

Forum|alt.badge.img+14

Why, can’t you change it?

sqladmin_cv is our Commvault Account so we can login if needed.
