Azure Data Studio is currently installed on all of our CommServe / Standby CommServe instances, likely as part of the SQL Management Studio installation.

While I can see reference to Azure Data Studio within the “Third Party Applications Installed by the Commvault Installer” page, I haven’t found anything to suggest it is actually required. Can it just be uninstalled?

Yes, we do not need it, and removing it is safe.

  • SSMS will continue to function normally after ADS is uninstalled.
  • ADS is a separate tool and does not impact SQL Server or SSMS.

Azure Data Studio was installed automatically as part of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) upgrades.
