VSA backups are regular backups of VMs.

We use Intellisnap to take snapshots of VMs or other agents, then backup the snapshots.

Snapshots

The only difference between agent based backups and Intellisnap is the capability to take and backup snapshots.

In our previous conversation around legacy licenses, we had to make a distinction because Intellisnap features were not available for all licenses and snapshot capacity was counted and licensed separately. However, with current (newer) licenses, Intellisnap is always included, so it’s much simpler now.
