Question

License not active due to IP address mismatch

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

We can no longer do any backups after a “minor” upgrade.

I upgraded our Commserve from 11.34..47 to 11.36.39.  After it was finally done and rebooted, etc. Commvault thinks that the address of the Commserve changed and doesn’t agree with the license file. Nothing changed regarding DNS or networking.  Control Panel->Licensing and Registration shows me the correct address next to License IP Address but shows a completely incorrect address next to CommServe IP Address.

For example (with made-up addresses):

CommServe IP Address:  10.1.1.50   ← This is actually the addresses of one of our clients, not the CommServe

License IP Address:  10.1.1.10  ← This is correct and is the machine I’m logged on to

We have always used the same IP address on the Commserve system as specified in the license file.

Hi @Phil-E

this seems unusual. You can try contacting support or emailing prodreg@commvault.com to obtain a license for a different IP.

Thank you for this.  That email address you supplied provided quick assistance and we are now back in business.  When I use Control Panel->License and Registration, however, it is still showing me the wrong address for our Commserve.  It’s like it randomly picked an IP address out of a hat.  Since we’re able to run backups now, however, I’m happy.
