Hello,

I tried to look in the documentation for the list of system state components that are been backed up but could not find the documentation - (only for windows file system I found)

what are the Linux system state components for backup ?

can yo please attach the link for the documentation?

Best regards,

hello @LiorRN

Hope you're doing well.

I wanted to discuss the differences in system state backups between Windows and Linux.

Windows System State backups encompass a comprehensive set of system files, registry settings, and other critical components, ensuring a complete system restore.

Linux, adhering to the "everything is a file" philosophy, handles system components as files. This means that to achieve a similar level of system state backup, you need to back up specific files and directories, including:

  • Configuration files (e.g., /etc)
  • Package lists
  • Boot loader configuration
  • Kernel modules
  • User data

While Linux doesn't have a direct equivalent to Windows System State, a strategic approach to backing up these essential components ensures a robust recovery process.
