Hi All,

i´m looking for an prcess list for the rocky linux vsa template. We are using trendmicro as av vendor and we cant exclude an path for the processes so we need to exclude the processes manually. I did not find any list and ariel also not :)

Do you have an idear ?

Hi SSchmidt,

We have a rough list of platform agnostic services here: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/commcell-console/descriptions_of_services.html

Beyond that I’ve just connected to my lab which is a manually built VSA/Media Agent on Rocky Linux 9.5.

root        1605       1  0 07:09 ?        00:00:00 /opt/commvault/Base/cvlaunchd
root        1608       1  0 07:09 ?        00:00:00 /opt/commvault/Base/cvd
root        1609       1  0 07:09 ?        00:00:00 /opt/commvault/Base/cvfwd
root        1611       1  0 07:09 ?        00:00:00 /opt/commvault/Base/ClMgrS
root        1612       1  0 07:09 ?        00:00:00 /opt/commvault/MediaAgent/CvMountd
root        3928    1605  0 07:11 ?        00:00:00 /opt/commvault/Base/CvBlrSvc

These are the services that you primarily want to exclude.

There are also on-demand processes such as vsbkp, browse and vsrst that you should observe to see if there are issues but typically you cannot exclude entire paths the above listed processes should suffice.

Hope that helps

Hi @SSchmidt ,

Upon reviewing the AV exclusion document, it was observed that PID names for Linux OS are not currently listed, whereas they are available for Windows.

As an interim solution, the following command can be used to identify the active PIDs, which can then be excluded in Trend Micro.

In parallel, we are validating and updating the document to include the required Linux-specific details.

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/recommended_antivirus_exclusions_for_unix_and_mac.html

Command :

commvault -instance Instance001 list

commvault -instance Instance002 list

Hi,

thanks for the update.

the active pids is not the problem. But for exyample when restore strated more processes comes up or when file browse started ore something like thank. We cant bvalidate all szenarios to check wich processes comes up.

So an actually list for each type aof Server would be perfect like for windows

Hi @SSchmidt

I have opened CMR 541343 for the documentation to reflect the Linux Process Names for you.

Off the top of my head, I’d suggest to start with the following specifically for VSA Proxy:

CvBlrSvc
cvd
CVDistributor
cvfwd
cvlaunchd
ClMgrS
CvMountd
CVNetChk
vsdisc
vsbkp
vsrst

Note: I may have missed some, but these are the initial core process names that come to mind.

Best Regards,

Michael
