Hi Team,

I have tapes LTO7 without barcodes. Commvault can't identify them. How can I use them?

I assume you need to purchase barcode labels for them?

Thanks,
Scott

I wanted to know if Commvault supports tapes without a barcode?

Probably not.  I’m sure barcodes are how we identify the tapes.

Thanks,
Scott

If your tape library doesn’t have a barcode reader, you can set it up as a Blind Library. The tapes get initialized with an On-Media Label (OML) by the system, which is a unique ID generated at the time of first ‘sight’ on the respective tapes.

Note that you may need to run a full discovery on the library, and if the library has already been configured with a barcode reader, you will need to obtain and apply LTO-7 labels to the tapes to make them usable.

If it’s a single tape drive, the configuration process is pretty similar.
