Hi guys,

I’m currently evaluating / planning the migration from a Windows CommServe to a Linux CommServe.

We are using a Fujitsu ETERNUS CS8000 virtual tape library with VJUK (generic SCSI library) emulation as Tape backend.

The Workflow (Prefetch Tapes for Restore) provided by Commvault to prefetch media, that have been migrated from cache, is no longer working on Linux CommServe.

The Command ManualPrefetchTapes.exe, that is called by the workflow on Windows, cannot be found in the Linux distribution.

Can someone tell me where to get it ?

Or is there a newer version of the prefetch workflow available, that does no longer use the external command to initiate the prefetch ?

Currently running on V11.40.59

Hi @johanningk ,
Good day ,

the workflow is only documented to use the Windows executable. There is no mention of a Linux-native version.

Hi @Sureshkumar S ,

Can you please take a look at this ?

Best regards ,
Ramadan

is there any update ?
if the mentioned executable is available for a windows commserve only, I’m not able to switch to a linux commserve, without loosing functionality.

Hi Guys,

since the last security restriction added regarding xpath commands in SQL blocks of a workflow, the Prefetch Tapes for Restore workflow, provide in the Commvault store, is no longer working.

 it also does NOT support:

  • Prefetch of tapes for an ACSLS Library Emulation
  • Prefetch of tapes for a Standard SCSI Library Emulation if CommServe is hosted on Linux OS

If you check and correct this workflow, can you also add missing functionality for a CommServe running on Linux and the ACSLS Library Emulation ?

For SCSI Library Emulation, the binary used on a Windows CommServe, does not exist on Linux.
For ACSLS Library Emulation, I always modify the Workflow you provide (most recent version : $Revision: M1.1.2.10 $)
If I can get in contact with someone at Commvault, to get this integrated in the Workflow you provide, I can pass the changes to you and no longer have to change your Workflow, every time you create a newer Version.

best regards
Klaus
