Hi Commvault experts,

I have one more question regarding the Media Agent migration, specifically about the Index Cache. Is it absolutely necessary to move the Index Cache? In some resources, I've read that it might be possible to skip this step. Is that correct? Can the Index Cache be rebuilt automatically during new backup jobs?

Also, is the actual process of moving the Index Cache directory simply a copy-paste operation in the operating system?

Once the Media Agent migration is complete, I can close all related threads and provide detailed comments.

hello drPhil ,
i hope youre doing well,

By default, the index cache is located in the MediaAgent installation folder.

For the local index cache path, you do not need to copy the content of the index cache because the new MediaAgent can perform index restores from the media once the data is migrated.

Thank you @Mohamed Ramadan for your input and contribution.

Indeed, I can confirm that moving index cache is not necessary when migrating Media Agent from the old server to the new one. As written above “new MediaAgent can perform index restores from the media once the data is migrated“.
