Media Agent replacement

Forum|alt.badge.img+15

Hello,

I am currently trying to replace a media agent. I have already migrated the DDB and set up the two buckets in Commvault on the new media agent.
Now how can I transfer the entries that are shown to me for the library of the old media agent to the new one ?
The library behind are always the same two buckets from our Object Storage.
The marker on the screenshot is the library of the old media agent.

Thanks!  Looks like they were able to disable the WORM copy and delete the Media Agent 😎

@thomas.S , thanks for the post!

Are you looking for instructions on moving the mount path?

This should explain the process:

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello @Mike Struening

I have now moved the Data Path for the DR backup to the new Media Agent. For the rest of the data, I guess I will have to wait for the retention to expire to remove the media agent. Although this is a test environment I should be able to delete the data this way but I get the message "Manual deletion of jobs from a worm storage policy is not allowed".
Can I change this afterwards ? These are only internal jobs from Commvault.

Is there another hint here how I can solve the data from the old media agent ? I always get this message when I try.

The data that ran on it are already old and could actually be deleted so.

Kind Regards

Thomas

Apologies for missing your update!

Sounds like you have WORM enabled on some of the jobs, which by definition can’t be deleted until their original retention time passes.

Do you know if anyone has run this?

With cloud libraries its much simpler to just add the new media agent to the library and then change the primary path.

Hello  @Mike Struening
I did not enable WORM when setting up our test environment.
What can I do to get the old media agent out of the CommCell ?

@chrisknows

I think I have already done that but the removal is still blocked.

@thomas.S , I would advise calling support on this.  The error is stating there’s WORM data connected.  Support would be best suited to figuring out why.

Can you share the case number once you do?
