Hi All,

What happens if a bad person becomes an admin on the CommServe server and change the server date forward 2 years? We can consider this for Media Agent as well.

In general, a bad person could log into the servers and do this and what would happen ?

Will the backups be deleted because the retention period has expired ?

If  you bumped the date forward that far, the CommServe would detect it, disable data aging, and force you to restart services and accept the prompt that is given.

Hi.

What is the impact of changing the time on the Media Agent? I don’t see it being an issue as the jobs are linked to the time on the CommServe. During aging the specific chunks will be removed based on id and not linked to timestamp.

Cheers.
