Hi.

I am planning for the migration of TSM (Spectrum Project) backup data to Commvault.

I have a couple of questions around the configuration:
1. For backup data from Linux TSM clients, a Linux Commvault Proxy/Staging client is required?
2. Same as above for Windows TSM clients, then a Windows Commvault Proxy/Staging client is required?
3. Do these staging clients need the Web Server and Index Store package installed or can this run centrally from the CommServe?

Please add anything that should be considered.

Thanks.

Ignes

Hi @Iggy

Good day!

Yes, for Linux FS client migration from TSM to CV Object store, a Linux staging client is required.

Likewise for the windows FS client data migration a Windows staging client is required.

Staging is client is the client where you install the TSM agent(used to send command to restore of data from TSM) and CV File System agent(Used to backup of the data once the TSM data is restore to a staging location).

Kindly make use of the below documentation and plan the migration accordingly.

Thanks,

Naresh G

We migrated from TSM to in 2022. Most likely your Linux are VM in VMware. So you will have Commvault VSA in your VMware cluster like you have proxy agent with TSM VE. https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20/virtual_server_agent_vsa_requirements.html

Since they are Linux, the will help do single file restore.
