Hi All,

i have an to do Moving a Mount Path to an Existing Device . So what i have done:

  1. Disabel for new data weeks ago
  2. Today disable mountpath for pruning
  3. Added an new mountpath in disc the library
  4. starte the move mountpath operation
  5. Job started and now copy data

So thats all okay bute now i have a question.

Actually the schedule is off.

But how can i prevent that backups are written to the new mountpath when i enable the schedule.

On the new mount path - you can select to disable the mount path for write. This will prevent the path being selected as a backup target and new data being written there.

You should only set this after the move operation is complete.

Hello @SSchmidt

To clarify, moving the mount path to a new location and moving the mount path to an existing device are two different things. Moving the path to an existing device, in a way, merges two mount paths together. Moving the mount path to a new location would keep the same mount path but migrate the data to another piece of hardware. Either way, you don;’t create a new mount path within the library. You select the target destination and we copy the data to it, then update the configuration within Commvault to point to the new location.

@SSchmidt to understand more,

  1. Has the move mountpath job already moved all the data and completed?
  2. Are there other mountpaths in the disk library?
  3. Is the old mountpath and new mountpath using the same disk? → This is the condition for moving mountpath to existing device.

There some documentation that you can follow
