Hello,

Can a second instance of commvault be installed on SQL cluster on windows?

Or are there any known issues with that?

Thanks

Hi @Sandy11

What is the use case for this? Why do we want to install different instances?

Thanks,

Sunil-

Hello,

We are setting up a new commcell and existing commcell will be retained for legacy restores.

So need the client to have access to both.

Thanks

It is controlled by a key. Please raise a ticket with support. We can provide the key.

Thanks,

Sunil

Hi Sunil,

according to books online the Multiinstancing für SQL Server is not supported.

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/multi_instance_support_01.html

But … there is a key to overcome this situation?

Regards.

Michael

Yes, support can validate the use case carefully and can provide the override.

This is disabled specifically for SQL since running backups from both instances will result into data loss.

Thanks,

Sunil-

Hi @Sunil can you help to provide documentation that will support the override of SQL multi-instance support? We will do the same as well in our environment.
