Hi,
actually we do not encrypt our backups.
Make it sense to encrypt them?

This has a simple answer:

YES!

More detailed: Why would you not encrypt your backups? Encryption does cause a (very) small hit to performance and load but you are much better off to have it when you have a security breach.

With more regulations nowadays by a lot of governments (EU mindset in this case), it is probably mandatory for a lot of companies to ensure protection of their data now or in the future.
