Hi,

We need to backup Azure SQL Databases (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/18110_microsoft_sql_server.html or if you prefer https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/97468_azure_sql_database.html). What are the requirements for the proxy server?

Thanks!

@iConsultant , is this what you are looking for?

Configuration Prerequisites

The solution includes the following components:

  • An Azure SQL instance

  • The ports open to access the Azure cloud. These ports are required to perform management operations on Azure databases.

Ask your network administrator to open the following ports:

    • Open TCP port 8443 to https://management.core.windows.net:8443.

    • Open TCP port 1433 to *.database.windows.net.

Note: Depending on your Azure environment, you may require to open additional ports. For more information, see Microsoft documentation, Granting access to Azure SQL Database and SQL Data Warehouse.

Hi @Mike Struening, More or less. Basically I want to know if I need to install a Commvault SQL Agent on the proxy and / or anything else (Cloud Apps or whatever).

Easy enough.  Install the SQL agent on the proxy.

I am probably overcautious 🙂.

In data protection, @iConsultant there is no such thing as overly cautious
