Hi All,

is there any way for configuring tape-out to be done from a replica library (using 3rd party storage hardware replication)?

The reason is to offload the weekly tape out from the main library to another library due to performance issues (a lot of read/write operations).

So, the current requirements are:

  1. Prod site CV MA to Aux copy to DR site MA (all CV)
  2. Prod site main repository to replicate to new prod site repository as a CV replica disk library (using storage replication)
  3. Prod site CV MA to copy from replica disk library to tape

Please note that the below is only advice as this is not a configuration that has been officially tested as the replica library configuration is intended as a restore-only path.

If you would like to try to AuxCopy from the replica path you can try the following:

  1. Configure the Secondary Copy as normal selecting the data path to be the replica read-only MediaAgent
  2. Create a special schedule for this copy and under the “general” settings tab force the source MediaAgent to be the MediaAgent used for the replica read-only path
  3. Run the jobs using this schedule configuration (do not use this schedule for any other operations)
