Yes this is possible. If you are leveraging the mailbox agent it supports a hybrid config so you can configure it for access to both onprem and online mailboxes and any combination. You can restore onprem->online or vice versa.
You would simply have to configure it for both so that it can discovery and browse the mailboxes.
