Hello I have the following:

               RHEL client: RHEL 9

Windows Commserve: Windows Server 2019

No firewall exist between the two machines

When I check the box that says Restore Via CV Tools to install the Linux agent onto the client, I get this error:

“Description: Failed to install File System Core Package, could not determine processor/OS type of client”

I do have a case open with support but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution. I have not found a solution on the forum.

Hi there,

That error is basically thrown when a push install fails to initialize at all.
The things I check when I get that error:

  • Network: Can the Commserve or software cache communicate to the system? (IP routing, name resolution, SSH ports open)
  • OS packages: Make sure you have Linux packages for your architecture in your software cache, if there are no packages to copy it will fail to recognize the OS and throw this error.

If these have been validated, in /var/log you should see a .gxsetup directory where you can pull the install logs and read for a more concise error. This will only be created if an install was able to connect to the system but unable to run the install.

Hopefully this helps narrow it down.
Cheers,
