Hi

We want to be able to scale better but we need to still utilize our existing SANs as storage

so as far as I can read we have two options

  1. SAN Data Server
  2. NAS box in front of our SAN (HNAS or something like that)

I would to hear from people who use SAN Data Server what is your setup like and have you found any problems that I need to consider before going that route?

We have fiber channel connection from all MediaAgent to SAN today so we only need to buy a server and put the QLogic cards in then the infrastructure should be in place..

Best regards

Bjarke

We certainly have customers using this, although I’m not sure if they are on this forum :-)

The inherent negatives are the strict system requirements for OS and specific cards which support the driver we need to make this work: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/shared_san_data_server_system_requirements_for_fibre_channel.html
