I have been searching on Commvault Docs about the One touch restore, I don't see where it says to use the Similar Disk or Dissimilar Disk option. I was informed if the new server being restored to is the same size or larger you can use Similar Disk option. Does anybody know or have a doc on that question.

Thank you

Review the following doc:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/18916_customizing_disks_during_bare_metal_recovery_using_1_touch_for_windows_dissimilar_system_restore.html

"When the target computer has the disk layout different than the disk layout of backed up computer, then you have to customize the disk layout of target computer during 1-Touch recovery. Follow the steps given below to map disks and customize the disk partitions during the Interactive or Non-interactive restore"

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/18949_performing_interactive_bare_metal_recovery_using_1_touch_for_windows.html

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/18887_bare_metal_recovery_using_1_touch_for_windows.html

"This term is used in the 1-Touch recovery of Windows clients. When the disk configuration of the restored system is different than that of the backed up system, you need to perform a Dissimilar Disk Restore."

Thanks but my one question i am stuck on is, i was advised if the destination client had the same size or larger drives and same amount of drives, it was recommended by Commvault engineer that you could use the similar disk restore. They just couldn’t be smaller drives. Is that accurate.? Thanks for the help
