SP32 VMware Disk Consolidation Issues?

Since upgrading to SP32.28 we are seeing issues with VMware reporting disk consolidation needed.

Prior to SP32 when a snapshot removal succeeded but disk consolidation failed Commvault would trigger additional disk consolidation task.  Now the snapshot removes, reports disk consolidation is needed but nothing is automatically triggered to clean it up. When the next job goes to run it fails because disk consolidation is reported as needed.

Automount disabled

No Snapshots Exist

Manually running consolidation completes instantly without issue

Impacts multiple ESXi versions

Impacts multiple VSA OS Versions

Impacts multiple transport methods (NBD, Hotadd)

Hello @Zach

With consolidation we will send API requests to the ESXi host to consolidate the disks but if it fails then it needs to be done manually or VMWare Support needs to investigate why the disks are failing to consolidate.

Thank you,

Collin

Hi @Collin Harper ,

Our issue is Commvault is not sending API requests to consolidate.  VSAs prior to SP32 we see the task to consolidate.  We do not see that on SP32.

Thank you,

Zach

The latest MR has a hotfix to address consolidation requests.
