Upgrade Commserve on new hardware machine

Hello,

I have CommServe backup server (two Media Agents  with many machines, with Linux Data Agent, also virtual machines) version simpana 11.20.0 installed. I have to plan migrate our existing CommServe (installed on Windows 2012) to a newer hardware with better performance and Windows 10.
Which documentation do you recommend? Which method of install to use for upgrade?

Elizabeta,

Since you are just changing the hardware of the Commserve, the following documentation is what you need to follow:

Just be sure to use the media for the same version you are currently on.

That’s the correct link to move and upgrade the CommServe to new Hardware.

Essentially you run a DR backup, Build the new CS and point the installer to the latest DR Backup in Database options.

Currently we are on Feature Release 24 which like 11.20 is a Long-Term Support Release.

The CommServe is commvault backup server installed on machine. Also, on the same windows machine is installed one Media Agent (which communicate with Tape library).

Release Types

Feature release → Once every quarter → One (1) year from initial release.

Long-term support (LTS) feature release → Once every year → Three (3) years from initial release, with monthly maintenance releases for year 1 and year 2, and then as needed.
