Hi Team,
We are currently planning an environment upgrade from release 11.24.56 to build 11.40 (required to maintain compatibility with a target vCenter/ESXi 8.0.3 environment and address recent security vulnerabilities).
The management console is currently deployed on two Windows Server 2022 nodes.
Could you please confirm whether an in-place upgrade is fully supported for this target build, or if we need to plan a side-by-side migration / hardware refresh?

Best regards,

HI @Fpt ,

You can upgrade directly from 11.24.56 to 11.40 without requiring a side-by-side migration or hardware refresh.

  • Windows Server 2022 is a supported operating system for Commvault 11.40, including for the management console (CommServe, Web Server, Command Center) components.
  • Commvault supports seamless in-place upgrades for the CommServe and management console components. There is no need to uninstall the software before upgrading the operating system or Commvault version.

Important Pre-Upgrade Considerations

  • Clients on 11.24 are not compatible with a CommServe running 11.40 or later. Upgrade these clients first, then proceed with the CommServe upgrade.
  • Ensure you review and meet all CommServe Server: System Requirements (Windows). refer document below.
  • Perform a Disaster Recovery backup before starting the upgrade.
  • Suspend all active jobs and disable the scheduler to prevent new jobs from starting during the upgrade.
