I have environment 11.32 that I want to upgrade to 11.40 ,
can I backup servers 2012R2 or 2012 or 2008R2 that have agent of 11.32 on 11.40 environment?

Yes, those clients can remain on 11.32. 11.24 and earlier need upgrading.
Upgrade clients running 11.24 or earlier before upgrading CS to 11.40 or later

No, they are fine. It’s just 11.24 and earlier which need to be addressed.
