Hello,

If  our system team have changed a VM or its DNS (host) name which is already in  backup is that VM’s corresponding client name, display name and hostname will automatically get changed in our Commvault GUI  not?

Thanks

Good morning.  Yes the name should be updated as we track the VMs by GUID.

Yes the name in the subclient should update on next discovery, but as @Orazan said - we track it by its UUID so it wont be considered a new VM. Backups already done will have the old name, new backups will have the new name. If you discover content in your subclient explicitly by using a name condition or guest DNS condition then backups could fail since its bypassing automatic discovery - but that is not a common thing to do.

Thanks.

So all 3 attributes will be changed  - Client name, Hostname & Display name ?

@Damian Andre  - “Backups already done will have the old name, new backups will have the new name”  -  how is it possible to distinguish once the name is changed on the CV console ?
