VMware backup validation - Fail to boot VM

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

We are starting to use the VMware backup validation feature (it’s great!) and we are getting quite a few “Fail to boot VM” results in our weekly test.

Using the “Validate backup” per VM the mounted backup looks promising but Commvault shuts it off.

Can the wait out time be extended?

Please read back your post. It is hard to decipher what your issue is from the limited amount of information that you have shared.

Sorry,

We have configured a weekly validation using the “Validate backup” option on the VM group, a lot of them fail with a “Fail to boot VM” error.

I’ve been running some more test and it looks like I ran the “Validate backup” in the VMs that came with a “failed to boot VM” error individually, the validation comes ok.

My assumption is that, in the VM group validation job, the affected VMs are slow to boot so Commvault just shuts them down and assume is a failed backup, that’s the issue.

My question then is, can the time Commvault waits for a VM to boot and load vm tools be extended?
