VMware virtualization - how to setup

Hi @elizabeta,

To backup the VM’s you’ll need a machine with the “VirtualServer” Agent installed. - This machine is leveraged to connect to vCenter (Port 443) and ESX (Port 443/902) to request Snapshot Operations and Backup related operations (Disk lease, Mapping, CBT etc).

If you want to use SAN Transport you’ll need a Physical machine, otherwise this machine could be virtual.

The Agent can be loaded onto an existing machine (such as Media Agent) or be dedicated depending on your requirements here.

One more information, VSA proxy is for VMware virtualization.

Do I need to install File Recovery Enabler for Linux  FREL if I will only have windows virtual machines on VMware virtualization?

@elizabeta , you should be able to push out the Virtual Server Agent via the instructions below:

If there are no Linux clients, no need for FREL.
