Good Day @SureshPS,

The failure is not caused by choosing HTTP instead of HTTPS. The webhook URL is being rejected because it uses a private, site-local 10.x.x.x IP address.

References from Logs:

IsIPValid - Sitelocalurl/LinkLocalUrl is provided
IsValidUrl - Invalid ip 10.xxx.xx.xxx
Invalid url specified: https://10.xxx.xx.xxx:9000/receive
Response status code set to [403]

Commvault validates the destination during webhook creation. In this case, the destination is classified as a site-local/private address, so the /Webhook request is rejected with HTTP 403 Forbidden. Changing only the protocol from HTTP to HTTPS will not resolve it because the destination is still the same private IP. The supplied Community logs show this exact rejection sequence.

Action plan to follow:

Configure the webhook with a valid, resolvable hostname or FQDN for the receiver instead of entering the 10.x.x.x address directly. Ensure that:

  • The hostname resolves correctly from the CommServe/Web Server.
  • The resolved destination is acceptable to the webhook URL validator and is not classified as a site-local or link-local address.
  • The configured port, such as 9000, is reachable from the CommServe/Web Server.
  • If HTTPS is used, the certificate is valid for the configured hostname and trusted by the sending system.
  • Any required authentication header is entered in the webhook configuration.
  • The webhook URL should be the endpoint provided by the receiving third-party application. Internal webhook guidance also identifies the URL as the third-party application URL and recommends using tools such as curl to validate the endpoint independently.

You can test reachability from the CommServe/Web Server network path with:

The HTTP response from a direct test may vary depending on whether the receiver requires a POST body or authentication. The primary objective is to confirm DNS resolution, TCP connectivity, and the TLS handshake.

Please do try to verify over the pointers and then re-try to create the Webhook which should ideally go well, if still the same let us know to check over this further!
