What is the best practice when it comes to the number of buckets to create when using  Cloud Library using S3 Netapp Storagegrid?
Is there a performance gain/benefit of using more than 1 S3 Netapp Storagegrid bucket in one Cloud Library using S3.

Appreciate any thoughts, suggestions or even any documentations available online which can explain the pros and cons

Hi @LiliDale ,

At this time there is no officially documentation or best practice that recommends using multiple S3 buckets within a single Commvault Cloud Library for S3 NetApp StorageGRID to improve performance.

Commvault supports StorageGRID as a cloud library, and the typical configuration involves defining a single bucket per cloud library.

At present, there is no official guidance suggesting that using multiple buckets can increase the performance. Performance is generally influenced by factors such as the number and distribution of MediaAgents, network bandwidth and connectivity, the scalability and performance of the StorageGRID backend, and how subclients are designed and data is distributed across the environment.

Regards,

Karthik

As something to think about, because S3 is so flexible you can think about having a single bucket for everything or explorer buckets for Prod/Dev/QA etc...as well as environments to which you have data that have WORM requirements and non WORM enable buckets.
