What type of direct attach storage array do you use?

Hey @CV - User

There was a similar discussion here (although not just limited to DAS)

But also keen to see what customers are using here. I see a lot of Dell MD3000 storage being leveraged from a direct storage perspective.

I am only interesting in DAS. We have Pure and Netapp. But I am reading data from there and do not want to put all eggs in one basket. If your SAN get compromise, you lose everything.

Only used for small sites, not for datacenter-scale site.

Mostly Dell/Compellent DAS arrays like MD3000 or now called SCV20xx/SCV30xx.

Spindle disks, but enough capacity to be used as deduplicated storage location.

Of course if you have to restore all the data from the array, it will suffer from low performance.

Another bad point from those arrays, from my storage adminitrator, is that they write in some RAID10 and then data is converted to RAID6. This reduces greatly the capacity, and also can cause issue as if you need to write a very big amount of data at once, the array could be full far beyond the RAID6 capacity…
