When will MySQL 8.4 will be supported by Commvault

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

Hello community!

Oracle released a new MySQL version (8.4) at the end of May. This is a long-term release with 5 years of support."

Our database experts are now naturally asking whether Commvault can handle MySQL 8.4 or when it will be released and when it will be supported.

Now I can only find at Commvault https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/essential/mysql_system_requirements.html

MySQL Community Server, Percona Server, Enterprise, Standard or Classic Edition 5.5.x, 5.6.x, 5.7.x, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3; MariaDB 5.5.x, 10.x.x, 11.x.x

Is there a timeline in which MR/FR MySQL version will be supported?

Hi @Joerg

MySQL 8.4 made some changes to the existing commands Commvault uses. Some of the commands have been removed and replaced with others, which required some considerable code changes from Commvault side to support this. We are actively working on this. Hoping to release the support as part of 11.36 release.

Thanks,

Sunil-
