as we know the documentation still states:

Verify that the destination client has Microsoft Outlook 64-bit 2010 or 2013 installed.

this version is going out of support in april 2023.

we have several customer look to release the version.

but we do not have any answer as to when a newer version will be supported.

This page is slightly misworded, and I have already submitted documentation feedback to make it clear.

IF you have outlook installed only so that you can perform restores to PST files then any Outlook (x64) versions will work.

The issue becomes when outlook is leveraged (onpem) for backups via MAPI. However, in recent service packs EWS is supported in Exchange 2010 and later and recommended. EWS is always used for Exchange Online.
 

We will work with documentation team to correct the wording.
