My Oracle backups are failing, I need to determine why.

Hi @bcolyer

Oracle backups can fail due to a number of reasons.

This particular error indicates, the backup fails because it detects that the database is offline. Here are some things to check:

  1. Check that the Oracle database in the backup content is online

  1. Check with your DBA to confirm database status

  1. Confirm network connectivity is active and consistent

  1. Run a Check Readiness to the Client

  1. Confirm the Required Ports are open

Once the database is online and/or network connectivity is established, resume the backup.

If that answers your question, feel free to mark this post as the correct answer.

Thanks!
