Why MA package is needed to configure DB2 DPF ?

Dear community,

I’m tasked to implement DB2 DPF database backup, When I reviewed the documentation and I wonder why it’s required to install media agent package beside DB2 Agent and what is the impact if i don’t install media agent ?

Got it. MA is required only if you are planning to use Snap backups. If not, MA is not mandatory package.

We will get the documentation corrected to indicate this is not mandatory.

Hi @Ahmed Elbably ,

Can you please share the doc link where MediaAgent is mentioned as required package for DB2 DPF? We will review it.

Usually, MediaAgent package is required when you plan to run IntelliSnap backups as MA is a required dependency for Snap backups.

Already logged a case with the support (#241104-178) and they replied that MA package is only required for Intellisnap backups and can be ignored.
