Many people may believe that when they create a create an Exchange Database subclient and follow this documentation Configuring Consistency Checks for Exchange Database Backups (commvault.com) that performing consistency checks is on by default and that that procedure only applies to Database Availability Groups.  However, the setting you will need to check is not on the subclient, but rather under the Advanced Schedule Options.

Great tip @Anthony.Hodges - just taking a look, the docs indicate to change the setting when running a backup, but uses terminology like your editing the subclient, when in fact you are editing the runtime schedule. To your point, I think this can be clarified, I’ll put in a request to get it clarrified:

 

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Exchange Database.

  2. Right-click the appropriate subclient, and then click Backup.

    The Backup Options for Subclient dialog box appears.

  3. Click Advanced.

    The Advanced Backup Options dialog box appears.

  4. On the Data tab, select the Perform Consistency Check check box.

 

@Damian Andre Correct and given that it is common to use shared policies; it is is easy for a user to simplify their schedules by moving it into one without that option ticked. Is there a way that this can be a normally on feature, rather than having to implement it there?

I only know enough about exchange to be dangerous 😉 - but in the past we have moved options away from schedule to subclient, like file indexing on VM subclients. Not sure if you have an opinion on this @Jason Sherry
