Chaning media agent , and adding Tape library

we have done a hardware refresh , and planned to keep the old MA and Library unitl the retention period ,

we have our tape library connected to Old Media agent and aux copies are configured on it, 

 

i would like to know the best approach to move the tape library to new MA 

all the current job to tape library are finished, 

can anyone help me with steps

putt media agent to mainantance mode

reconnect tape library to new MA

scan the library using new MA

that is enough ?

Hi @Ajal,

 

  1. Disable the tape library.
  2. Deconfigure and delete the tape library.
  3. Attach the tape library to new MA.
  4. Scan and configure the library on new MA.

@Saikat Sinha Ray  in that case we need to configure the tape library from the start right, we will loose all the configuration

Hi @Ajal, 

 

That’s correct. You will lose all configuration of the old instance of the library.

But you can restore the data written to the tapes.

@Saikat Sinha Ray  is there is anyway we can do it without deconfiguring it. like below ,

  1. Disable the tape library.
  2. Attach the tape library to new MA.
  3. Scan and configure the library on new MA.

Hi @Ajal ,

There will be two libraries with same serial number. It may not behave as expected.
