hello,

i m planning a CommServe + Media Agent  all in one migration with hardware refresh, OS change (Windows → Linux), and version upgrade (11.28 → 11.40 LTS)

I m want to migrate on linux because the windows version is depreciate.

Can you advise me on the steps to take during the migration ?

I would like to use the bare-metal version of Commvault 11.40 LTS, or would you advise me to reinstall using Rocky Linux and then install CommServe + Media Agent ?

Thank you for your help

Hi @mahmoud Hatira ,

For the existing setup, the CommServe can be upgraded to SP40 on a Windows platform. However, new CommServe installations on Windows are not permitted in SP40.

If you do need to install a new control plane on Windows, an additional configuration step is required for it to function properly with reference to the doc on Enabling Windows Installations for Commvault.

The bare-metal image is intended only for standalone CommServe deployments and is not suitable for all-in-one installations that include both the CommServe and Media Agent. Using the bare-metal ISO for both components can lead to installation failures and unsupported setups.

Instead, deploy the system using Rocky Linux or RHEL, install the CommServe and Media Agent manually, and then proceed with the DR Restore.
