Hello @Emara

It is assumed that if a laptop is off then nothing has changed on the laptop since the last backup that it was on for.

Also we use the software installed onto the OS to communicate and protect that data, this cannot be achieved with a powered down machine.

Kind regards

Albert Williams

Hi @Emara

It sounds like you might need the CommServe / Gateway Proxy that is resolvable from Outside and Inside the LAN (In case user not connected to LAN/VPN), so that the Laptop can connect and backup be taken here.

More Details can be referenced here: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/setup_wizard_for_laptop_application.html

And Here: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/network_router_in_cloud_for_laptop_solutions_setting_up_commvault_network_gateway.html

Best Regards,

Michael

A roaming client is a client that roams, meaning it can change its location.

We could understand this as laptop, as they may be connected to the internet from different networks depending on their location.

As my colleague Michael has already advised, you may need to configure a Client Gateway your laptops can reach when they are outside the organization’s network so they can connect back to the Cell resources to run their backups.
