How does the Software Remote Installation process works. What technology is used, what services or ports needs to be allowed on client.

The Commvault server initiates the installation process on the remote client by downloading the necessary files or transferring the software package if there is no internet access to your CommServe. In this case, you must first download the software to the CommServe software cache. After this, the sys core package and any other selected packages will be installed.
 

Make sure the appropriate ports are open and accessible for a direct software push: port 22 for Linux/SSH, and ports 135, 139, and 445 for Windows (WMI).
