For Oracle database backups on Commvault, what is the recommended approach to use retention rules? The recommended approach is to use retention rules based on number of cycles or days?

Hi @Eduardo Braga

What is the backup storage here?

Commvault 2023E (11.32)

The primary and one of the secondary copies go to a traditional disk library. Another copy is being sent to a LTO8 Tape Library. At our company, there's no need to store copies with separate retention periods. We should keep all the data for at least 30 days. We perform a full backup (LVL0) once a week, one incremental backup (LVL1) on the remaining days of the week, and backups of archived redo logs daily throughout the day.

The recommended approach is to use retention rules based on the number of cycles, days, or a combination of days and cycles, ensuring e.g. we maintain at least five backup cycles covering a month and 30 days to provide a minimum time safety net, preventing data from being deleted too quickly if cycles are frequent?
