you might have some problems when upgrading from 11.24 to 11.44 without updating the clients first. In the documentation I can see that clients with 11.24 are not supported by a Commserv with 11.40 or higher: Installing Commvault Software Updates
Upgrade those clients first to atleast 11.26. and you should be good to go.

How are you going to build the new Commserv? In your case I would just build the Windows Server, install Commvault on it and register it as a standby. After you are finished, you can perform a failover and keep it as the primary Commserv.

I can’t update my commserve because Sql server new installations doesn’t support the windows OS version

And if i dont upgrade commserve, i can’t upgrade clients

I think my only availble option it is a clean installation in a new machine of an earlier  LTS commvault version… maybe 11.32 or 11.36??

And do the migration to 11.44 in two different steps

Thats going to be a little more difficult now.

As far as I know, it is not possible to have a standby Commserv with a different Commvault version than the production Commserv. Also I dont think it is possible with a different Windows Version. Different versions have different SQL updates and that would not allow livesync to work.
I think you should create a Commvault case and ask them for assistance since 11.24 is not supported anymore.

I think what I would do is install 11.24 on the new Commserv, install it as standby first , migrate everything with livesync, make a failover and let the old Commserv “age out” before you delete it. But I am not sure if this is possible with the old version on the new Windows Server.

Oh yes I forgot you want to keep the hostname and IP. In that case you are going to make a DR backup, shutdown the old Commserv and make a Commserv recovery on the new one right?
