Commserve upgrade from SP 16 to 11.32

Depending on the specs of the underlying system you have to take into account a maintenance window of 30-60 minutes for the CommServe upgrading without the check database consistency option enabled. 

As mentioned, you will have to account for an outage to upgrade.

Note you will need to upgrade twice.  First to 2022E, then to 2023E.

“If the CommServe server is at Service Pack 16 or a previous service pack, and you want to update it to Commvault Platform Release 2023 or a more recent platform release, you must first update the CommServe server to Platform Release 2022E.”

I am at version 11 sp16 HPK 136, I believe I have to first upgrade to 2022E 11.28.  The only download on the site is for the Maintenance Release/ Hotfix Pack.  Will this upgrade my current version to 11.28?

FR28 is now deprecated: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/software/deprecation_notices.html.

So the best is to restore the Commserve DB to another server on SP16.

Then upgrade to FR32 and see if you are facing any issues:

I confirmed you can perform an interactive upgrade directly from SP16 to FR40.

We will see about updating documentation to make this more clear for everyone.
