Thanks for your reply.

Our SOC team requested  this patching activity after our commcell is upgraded to the latest MR, so we are going to do the patching without upgrading any other components.

The process for patching SQL is not any different from what you would be doing for OS patching. I would include SQL updates alongside your OS updates to keep everything patched.

Disable activity, suspend jobs, run DR backup, and apply updates.
