Team,

One of my customer is on SP20, post discussions we have finally convinced them to move on to the latest SP (as per documentation, the latest LTS is SP40), is it advisable to move directly from SP20 to SP40? what will be impact if this is done? Or do we have to upgrade to SP32? If yes, SP32 is also announced EOL.

Hi @Arun Shivaprasanna,

A direct upgrade from SP20 to SP40 is supported and recommended over upgrading via SP32, provided that all prerequisites are met. Please note that due to major schema and feature changes, the upgrade may take longer and will require thorough post-upgrade validation.

Ensure all clients, MediaAgents, and the CommServe must comply with the system requirements for SP40 as outlined here CommServe Server: System Requirements (Windows)

Recommended Upgrade Steps:
==
* Download a Full Media Kit for SP40 (Including the SQL Package) from the Bootstrap.
* Review all system requirements, including deprecated platforms and products.
* Perform a full Disaster Recovery (DR) backup.
* Suspend all backup jobs and disable schedulers.
* Upgrade the CommServe first, followed by MediaAgents, and then clients.

After the upgrade, verify all components and re-enable schedulers.

Regards,
Dheeraj
